Cool rock. I sure hope it's real. I have no experience with them though so I can't give you any insight. But I'm definitely pulling for you!

Is it highly magnetic? It doesn't have the outward appearance of any meteorite I've ever held. That's not saying it itsn't though. I can't see the video.

Hi,
I'm a newbie to detecting and the forum. I found something quite similar on my first time out with my new tesoro micromax. It is extremely heavy and attracts magnets. After a lot of rooting around on the I-net I found that one test is to rub the object on an unglazed area of pottery, like the bottom of a coffee cup. If it leaves a mark like a pencil, it's a "meteorwrong". In my case it left a red mark indicating my find was composed of hematite. If it leaves a black mark it's another earth mineral, but I forgot the name. I deleted the "bookmark" for the website so I can't vouch for its credentials, now, but I was certainly persuaded at the time. Hope this helps.

Rubbed and left a black chalk type mark. I guess it isn't a meteor...

Read through this link that is on the site of one of the "Meteorite Men". At the bottom they have a list of tests which includes the streak test previously mentioned.
