Hello all,
Getting back into metal detecting. I did a little in the 80's with an old radio shack detector, never had much luck. I was under the impression that I would wave it around and money and rings would jump out of the ground into my pocket. :D Ok not really, but I did think it would be less work than it was. Being 21, going to the bar and other things became more important, so..................................... fast forward to today and I am now in my 40's and decided to give it a go again. Spent the last two months researching everything I can find on the subject.
I bought an Ace 250 as my first detector, it seems that is the one most people suggest for a beginner.
Anyway I'm sure I bored you all enough, just wanted to say Hello since I have been lurking here and reading a while.

BTW: I live outside of Grove City and have a one acre backyard, while researching the area I found that my back yard and my neighbors back yard used to be a baseball field in the 30's 40's and 50's confirmed, maybe older than that unconfirmed. Coolest part is my neighbors weird looking shed, is the old concession stand. Looking forward to some searching.

Welcome to the forum! I have never personally used an Ace 250 but they are probably one of the best selling machines on the market and are very well liked.

Keep us posted on how you do in your own back yard. might be an incredible place to hunt and if it hasnt been hit hard there is a good chance a lot of silver is there.

Good to have you with us, I use the Ace 250 and have been really pleased with it. Keep with it learn from your signals they are the best teaching tool. Ace is very good on coins generally accurate on most of them. Nickle signals will be a challenge at first you will dig a lot of pull tabs and junk at first. It may not have the depth of some of the more expensive machines but I have dug coins at 7+ inches that it accurately defined. If you do not have a pin pointer invest in one as soon as you can afford it. It speeds recovery time allowing you to dig more efficiently. I have the Garrett Pro Pointer and really love it, easy to use and very rugged.

Welcome to the forum. I wish I had a back yard like yours, that's awesome. Do a little detecting, go back inside for a cold one, detect some more, hit the can, detect some more, have another cold one, detect some more, go in for lunch.......well, you get the point. I on the other hand tend to drive an hour away to detect. I can't wait to see the finds. Good Luck!!
